Providing financial support to families whose lives have been touched by childhood cancer.

We BeLeaf In

Spreading love, leading with compassion, and sprinkling a little sunshine into our Cancer Children’s worlds by providing financial support to families whose lives have been touched by childhood cancer.

Myla’s “BeLeaf “ was originated after Myla’s passing when her mother and father received physical signs in the form of leaves which strengthened their anecdotal awareness that these were signs of communication from her.

A leaf represents HOPE, RENEWAL AND GROWTH, which is mirrored in our mission. Although Myla’s physical form is no longer with us, her spirit is captured and lives on through our foundation. We are committed to helping families who have experienced the challenges of childhood cancer and we believe that every child deserves the chance to feel like a unicorn, truly one of a kind and highly valued.

We want you to join us in planting a seed of hope that grows into a flourishing tree of support, joy, and love to those affected by childhood cancer.

Our History

Our sparkling unicorn, Myla Carrera, was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor, stage IV diffuse anaplastic histology, with an expansive metastasis to the lungs, on December 26th, 2017.

She fought an incredibly courageous fight that initially consisted of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

Unfortunately, one year post treatment Myla still had multiple lung lesions and was deemed terminal. We refused to “keep her comfortable” through palliative care and decided to explore experimental treatments such as repurposed medicine and immunotherapy in Austria.

Grievously, her cancer metastasized to the occipital lobe of her brain and after multiple recurrences, it ultimately terminated her life on earth on January 1, 2020.

Myla permanently occupies an enormous space in our hearts and she shines her infectiously positive spirit through us.

Our hearts shattered when she passed away in our arms, but we will never say goodbye, only “until we see you again”….

Testimonials

Dear Camilla and Michael,
My family and I are extremely grateful of your generosity. These have been such difficult times and your help alleviates us so much and keeps us fighting. My daughter is only 12 years old, and this is her second battle with cancer. No child should have to go through this - it's been so hard, but it's people like you that renews our faith. It is nice to know that we are not alone, the nurses, doctors, and staff in clinic also give us hope. Thank you again, may God bless you - my hope is to one day return the hand and help someone in need as well. With much appreciation,
Heidi V.
The money that was donated to my daughter Mandi, allowed her to take part in a holistic treatment plan for Ewing Sarcoma that would have been a huge financial strain on the family, and we would not have been able to do it. We are so grateful to Camilla and Mike for their generosity and organizing these funds for our daughter while she's fighting this Horrific disease. Thank you so much for helping our daughter. ❤
